Tom, what about the route to Banff, Lake Louise, down through Whistler, then out to Vancouver Island!

conquer! ? Don't get too cocky here guys. We all know Nature is much wiser and stronger than any human. Give thanks and honor Nature for sharing and giving of her abundance during your safe travels.

i'll second that one mom rudy, and i'm sure the boys are aware of this relationship as well. i think they are pretty thankful for all that she's shared with them in the past 72 days... infact they probably won't ever forget it(headwinds and all!!)

I suppose my statement could have been interpreted as man over nature, rather than man from nature; however I was trying to make a bold statement regarding a successfully completed journey, the journey of self. It seems all too often many people start things they never finish. While this is not an error in itself, many people live on a basic level of mediocrity where they never try to really test themselves. This journey, to these men, most likely served a range of personal and symbolic challenges. As I have ‘integrated’ into the ‘social fabric’ of the often mundane American Life these men have conquered something. They have earned endurance, challenged physical ability, triumphed human curiosity and interaction, and soaked in great views of nature unmolested by the unimportant. While the journey of self is undeniably linked to nature, my original statement dared not snipe the awesome power of nature! This statement was not intended as a 'heil' manifest destiny, control, destroy and conquer salute! Nor was it an onlooker’s testosterone shout, or an SUV commercial, this journey like so many other challenges these gentlemen have chose to attempt was completed; and this very fact demands accolade!!

Well done, Tom. And thanks for all the picture updates and commentary. Sure has made for an interesting and informative website. I am only sorry that you will not see the hairy men in all their resplendent growth. Tonight it's supposed to be 'Beard's off!"

Thanks for all you've done Tom-
Mom Witherill

no worries tom. just throwing in my two cents. there is no denying that adam, colin, rudy and eric (ed you rocked too) accomplished something awesome. i don't think anyone is trying to deny that. glad to know you understand that interpretation of your specific choice of words could be considered a little offensive to some readers. thank you for maintaining the updates, photos and all. i couldn't have asked for a better excuse to avoid studying the past few months. i'm sure the boys are grateful for all you've done as well.

All; congratulations from the entire Smith family of Westfield, NJ. Nicely done. Enjoy yourselves and take a long break.
Son Ed is fine in Lake Village, Arkansas and about to enter a triathelon. I'm sure he shares your joy in completing the journey.
